Traffic Prahari 2.0.3

To encourage the general public to report traffic violations, the Traffic Management Division of Delhi Police initiated the Traffic Sentinel Scheme in December 2015. In September 2024, the scheme was relaunched as 'Traffic Prahari'. The Traffic Prahari mobile application is now available on Google Play Store for Android users and Apple Store for iOS users. To use the app, the user must register with their mobile number by entering an OTP, name, and email ID.

Through the Traffic Prahari app, users can report specific traffic violations by capturing photos or videos of offending vehicles and submitting them to Delhi Traffic Police for further action against the violators. To issue a notice under section 133 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, information such as date, time, place, registration number, and type of violation is mandatory. GPS coordinates, date, and time are automatically recorded from the mobile handset.

In addition to facilitating reporting on traffic violations, the scheme includes a reward system. Active Praharis are eligible for rewards based on the points they earn through their participation in reporting violations.
